Employee Spotlight: Our Very Own, Adrienne Hindley, Reservations Manager

HOW LONG HAVE YOU WORKED IN RESERVATIONS AT LITTLE GEM RESORTS?

I started in 1993, just after my second child was born (they are now 30, 28 & 23 so the great thing is that I have been able to visit our properties with all ages of kids)!

WHY DO YOU THINK BOTH RESORTS RETAIN SUCH LOYALTY?

Our resorts are all about family, which can range from a couple on their honeymoon, a minimoon or a family vacation. Our properties are like coming to visit with family as the team on both islands are so warm and caring, you feel like you are coming home! Another reason we truly are like family to our guests is that we have many employees who have been with the resorts for many years and as such, our guests are genuinely remembered and welcomed back by those they know!

WHAT MAKES YOUR TEAM DIFFERENT FROM OTHER RESERVATION OFFICES?

This is not just a job for my team. We all absolutely love what we do and love talking to people and planning vacations! Additionally, the owners Mark & Gwenn Snider truly care about each and every one of us and are always sharing their ideas and passion, including the entire team in many parts of the decision making.

WHAT DO YOU THINK MAKES OUR PROPERTIES SO UNIQUE? AND WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE ACCOMMODATIONS FOR FAMILIES AND COUPLES ON EACH RESORT?

The islands themselves are spectacular, beautiful and untouched from the hustle and bustle of the world. Our resorts are truly hidden “Little Gems” where people can go to escape their work and lives on the mainland. My favorite accommodations, wow, hard to say as I love them all. For couples I would recommend the East Chop Suite on the Vineyard and on Nantucket the Mizzenmast or Mainmast suites. At the Winnetu, the 2-bedroom Edgartown suite and Private Garden Cottages are amazing for a family. On Nantucket, my favorite is the Chase 2 bedroom suite as it has a large living area for family to congregate.

WHAT ARE THE “MUST DO ACTIVITIES” YOU TELL GUESTS TO DO ON BOTH ISLANDS?

When I was on the Vineyard long ago with extended family (ages 7-70), we went on the Lighthouse Tour offered by the resort. It was amazing! I had never been to Chappaquiddick and the lighthouse. The Trustees tour guide was great and we loved not only the beauty but also the learning experience (the guide made it so much fun for the kids as well)! Nantucket is easy – Cisco Brewery and I don’t even drink beer! The place is filled with people just relaxing at the end of a work or beach day. The place is filled with families, fun and live music – and dogs everywhere. An experience not to be missed for any age!

WHERE DID YOU GET YOUR PASSION FOR FILM?

When I was in High School, I did a semester at Beverly Hills High in California as I have always had a love of TV & film. The highlight there was meeting Jack Lemmon (he was the father of a family friend). When my father passed away suddenly when I was in college, my mom followed their dream and built an Inn in my hometown of Sudbury, MA so after graduating college, I made the decision to help her with the Inn as opposed to pursuing a career in film (although I do have a home theater where I spend quite a bit of time still)!

FUN FACT ABOUT YOURSELF?

Consistent with my passion for film, I am a huge Comic Con junkie and have met many celebrities with the highlight to date of meeting Jason Momoa (I am a huge Game of Thrones fan). I secretly want to be Wonder Woman!

THANKS, ADRIENNE FOR ALL THAT YOU DO FOR OUR GUESTS AND OUR COMPANY! YOU ARE ALREADY WONDER WOMAN IN OUR EYES!
