Martha’s Vineyard’s most popular beach destination is South Beach in the Katama section of Edgartown.

South Beach, home of the Winnetu Oceanside Resort, is Martha’s Vineyard’s most popular beach destination with rolling surf that’s perfect for riding or swimming, a south-facing orientation for all-day sun and warmth, and miles of wide beach for walking, enjoying bird-watching activities or playing beach games. Travel & Leisure magazine has just named South Beach “One of the World’s Best Beaches,” in its January 2013 edition. South Beach is also known for being one of the most popular beaches on the Island. In a poll administered on the marthas-vineyard.com website, which is a portal into everything about the Vineyard, respondents have picked South Beach as the “winner” of their favorite beach on the Island.

There are Life Guards on duty, in season, at South Beach from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
