Getting Around the Island of Martha’s Vineyard

Explore The Vineyard by car, bike or on foot.

In the summer months, a car is really not necessary — there are plenty of transportation options available to/from the Resort and on the Island. However, for those guests traveling with young children, or staying for a week or more, a car can be a nice convenience.

During the spring and autumn seasons, we do recommend that you bring a car, especially if you wish to explore the Island. If you’re just coming for a weekend, and aren’t interested in touring, a car really isn’t needed.

For iPhone and Android cellphone users, the popular Martha’s Vineyard travel website, Martha’s Vineyard Online (www.mvol.com) has released a free, new smartphone app that provides business and restaurant listings, as well as information about activities and events on the Vineyard. In addition, users can find out exactly where they are on the Island, and locate attractions and landmarks nearby via the app’s  geo-location and integrated mapping features.
