For a fun and convenient transportation option, board New Bedford's passenger-only, fast ferry and enjoy a one-hour ride to Martha's Vineyard on a fast, sleek catamaran – you'll wish it took longer! Once on Island, combine this option with complimentary shuttle service between the boat and our Winnetu Oceanside Resort, and all your transportation issues will be taken care of for you. If you make your passenger reservation in advance with us, we will book your ferry passage, pick you up at the Vineyard ferry wharf and provide you, your luggage and bicycle with a complimentary transfer to-and-from our Resort.

Canoe or Kayak Tour on Poucha Pond – A.M.

Guided Bicycle Tours of Martha's Vineyard

Martha's Vineyard is a bicycle rider's paradise — with bike paths leading directly from the Winnetu Oceanside Resort — to the Island beyond. We encourage our guests to either bring their own bicycles or rent them on-Island.

The guided bike tours are custom designed for you and your family and are by advance reservation only. Each tour is exclusive. For example, if you are a party of two, you would pay the same package rate for the guide, as would a family of five persons. The guide is there just for you! Note: There is a 6-person maximum per guide.

Oak Bluffs/State Beach Afternoon Tour – With Spectacular Ocean Views!

  • Allow 3 to 3-1/2 hours. Easier-to-Moderate Ability/Flat Terrain. 18 miles round-trip
  • Appropriate for children ages 6 and older
  • Departs Resort at 2:00 p.m. (unless you arrange otherwise with the guide)

Nantucket – Full-Day Experience – 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.


New This Year! See the Vineyard's sister Island — a historic, world famous, and beautiful day-trip destination. To visit Nantucket, from the Vineyard, you must pre-book this custom-designed trip arranged exclusively for Winnetu Oceanside Resort guests. This is the best way to visit Nantucket, for the day, from the Vineyard! Enjoy five hours on Nantucket to shop; visit the Whaling Museum; rent bikes (or bring your own); have lunch; or take a tour of the Island. In the morning, we'll take you from the Resort to our chartered, 30-passenger ferry (a.k.a.,, the "Quick-Water") — a converted, oil rig supply vessel from New Orleans — for a fun, 1-1/2 hour voyage to Nantucket. Return via Hy-Line's luxurious, high-speed catamaran (i.e. a one-hour trip).

Whale Watch Cruise and Trip to Cape Cod – Full Day


The history of whaling and the history of New England are intertwined. Moby Dick was written here. Now you can experience the thrill of seeing these majestic animals on a whale watch trip — offered exclusively to Winnetu Oceanside Resort guests.

Travel by fast ferry to Hyannis, on Cape Cod, to embark on your whale watch cruise. Enjoy a 3-1/2 hour trip to see the whales — with expert naturalists aboard providing commentary on the whales and local ecology — as well as history about our region. Food and beverages are available on board (not included in the package price).

Back on the mainland, as an added bonus, your driver/tour guide will show you some Mid-Cape historical points of interest; allow some time for you to stroll through the many boutiques, art galleries, and specialty shops in downtown Hyannis; or play a round of mini-golf with the kids (fee not included in the package rate). Whether you are an avid cyclist or a leisure rider, biking on the Island should not be missed. Pick from an assortment of bikes that is just right for you. Guided Morning Walk to Edgartown — Complimentary


Take in the sea air as you enjoy a casual walk into beautiful downtown Edgartown. On the way, learn a little bit about the Island, or some of our best kept secrets, from one of our knowledgeable fitness professionals. Jump aboard the VTA shuttle bus ($1.00 per person) to return to the Resort — after a little shopping or lunch. It is a 45-minute walk into town.

Relaxation and taking care of yourself are just as important as a good workout. Treat yourself to a little luxury, as you enjoy a therapeutic massage.

Massage Types Available Include: Swedish; Deep Tissue; Neuromuscular Therapy; Back, Neck and Shoulders; Foot Reflexology; and Hot Stone Therapy.

Clambake — Wednesday Evenings


A visit to the Island is not complete until you've experienced the ultimate clam bake! Rachael Ray from the Food Network even filmed our special event last year! Come enjoy great food, lots of fun entertainment and meet new friends – as you experience one of our most popular weekly events.

Our clam bake comes complete with clam chowder, whole 1-1/2 lb. steamed lobsters, mussels, clams, native corn, and summer salads. Land lovers are not forgotten, as barbecue chicken, all beef hotdogs, and fresh vegetables are also available.

The event begins at 6:00 p.m. (non-alcoholic drinks are provided) — together with clam chowder. Lobsters are unveiled at 6:30 p.m.; followed by dessert at 7:15 p.m.; and entertainment at 7:30 p.m. (including lawn games and activities). Then, we top everything off with a sunset "s'more party" to end the evening!

Capture the essence of your vacation on the Island with a professional photo taken of your family during your stay. The portraits are created by the Howard's – who specialize in capturing the spirit of Martha's Vineyard – which is reflected in each photo. Katama Farm Activities/Programs


The FARM Institute (TFI) is a wonderful, teaching farm located adjacent to the Winnetu. It educates and engages children in agriculture through a diverse, working environment. Kids can experience the many facets of farm life as they receive hands-on instruction; work with a varied selection of livestock, gardens and field crops; and participate in the growing cycle by planting, nurturing, and harvesting.

For the 2008 season, your kids can participate in many programs, including a Summer Camp or the "Wee Farmers," as well as a Corn Maze.
